Your First Visit to
Foundation Chiropractic
We know walking into a chiropractic office for the first time can feel a little intimidating. Here is what you can expect from the moment you arrive.
Step by Step
What Happens at Your First Appointment
When you come in for the first time, we start with a real conversation. Not a rushed intake, not a stack of clipboards handed to you at the desk. You will sit down with Dr. Thompson and talk through what is going on, how long it has been happening, and what has or has not helped in the past.
After that, we do a thorough physical and neurological exam. For most patients, this includes postural analysis, range of motion testing, and orthopedic assessments specific to your complaint. If your case warrants it, we may take X-rays right here in our office to get a clear picture of your spine.
Once we have reviewed everything, we will explain exactly what we found in plain language. No medical jargon, no vague answers. You will leave that first visit knowing what is going on in your body and having a clear plan for how we are going to address it.
Your First Visit Includes
- •Comprehensive health history review

- •Orthopedic and neurological testing

- •A customized care plan built around your goals
Most first appointments take about 45 to 60 minutes. Please arrive 10 minutes early so you can complete your paperwork without feeling rushed.
Before You Arrive
How to Prepare for Your Visit
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing if you can. You do not need to change, but it does make the examination easier. If you have any prior imaging like MRIs, CT scans, or X-rays, bring those along. Even records from a previous chiropractor or physical therapist can be helpful.
Come ready to describe your symptoms as specifically as possible: where the pain is, when it started, what makes it better or worse, and whether it radiates anywhere. The more detail you can give us, the better picture we get before we even touch your spine.
We serve patients from all across the area including Lutz, Odessa, Land O Lakes, and Wesley Chapel. Whether you have been dealing with this for two weeks or two decades, there is no wrong time to come in and find out what is actually going on.

Common Questions
Things Patients Often Ask Us
Do I need a referral?
No referral needed. You can book directly as a new patient. Most insurance plans cover chiropractic care without one.
Will I get adjusted on my first visit?
That depends on what we find in your exam. Some patients receive their first adjustment the same day. Others benefit from having their results explained first and scheduling the adjustment at a follow-up. We let the exam guide that decision, not a script.
Does chiropractic hurt?
Most people are surprised by how comfortable it is. You may feel some soreness the next day, similar to what you feel after a good workout, but that usually fades within 24 hours. The relief that follows typically makes it very worth it.
What if I have had surgery?
Previous surgery does not automatically disqualify you from care. As a chiropractor in Lutz, FL with over 10 years of experience, I have worked alongside surgical patients many times. We simply adjust our approach to your specific history.
Ready to Come In?
Scheduling is simple. Call us or fill out the form online and we will get you set up. We work with patients from Lutz, Odessa, Trinity, Tarpon Springs, and the surrounding Pasco County communities.
